RSUI has an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and collaborative Sr. Claim Specialist to join our Excess Casualty Claims unit in Atlanta, Georgia! The Sr. Claim Specialist handles, with a high level of specialized technical expertise and limited supervision, various Excess/Umbrella/Complex/Major Case claims. The caseload includes construction, premises, commercial auto, product, environmental, construction defects, and other complex claims involving multiple timeframes and policy periods. This caseload may include complex coverage issues.
Strong working relationships are a key component of RSUI's team-oriented, high-performance culture. Our specialized area of industry focus requires real-time, in-person collaboration that fosters meaningful dialogue and strengthens professional connections. Team meetings, employee events, and other work obligations also often require an in-person presence. This position will work RSUI's hybrid schedule, which requires three days weekly in the office.
Responsibilities:- Assertive daily handling of a high volume of claims including the managing of litigation and the recognition of diverse coverage issues
- Works in concert with the Unit Leader to plan and execute investigation, settlement negotiations, or sustain an appropriate denial governed by company guidelines
- Provides appropriate reporting on files to the Unit Leader and/or Supervisor with recommendations on reserving, plan of action, and current evaluation as required
- Collaborates and shares ideas in dynamic, highly specialized working environment
- Acts independently in evaluating claim exposures within assigned dollar authority
- Requires an excellent understanding and skill level of internal and external customer service
- Attends business related functions, such as team meetings, mediations, trials, company events, etc.
- May perform other related tasks as assigned, depending on business need
Qualifications:- College degree or equivalent industry experience preferred but not required
- Requires a minimum of 7+ years of claim handling practices experience
- Requires strong technical and analytical skills coupled with above average communication abilities
- Adjuster's licenses required; must be able to obtain and maintain the required Adjuster's licenses
- Superior customer service orientation and strong work ethic are critical
- Possesses an excellent in-depth, practical working knowledge in area of specialization including policy interpretation, coverage issue identification, statutes and state regulations, litigation management, excellent skills conducting and guiding investigation, adjustments, file documentation, case negotiation and settlement steps and strategies
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Work and Excel)
