Responsibilities

Sr. Casualty Claims Adjuster

Location: La Jolla, CA; Remote

The Details:

The Sr. Casualty Claims Adjuster, under direction from the Senior Vice President, Head of Casualty Claims, will be responsible for handling in-house casualty claims and overseeing the third-party administrator claims. You will handle all aspects of claims notices and files related to claims and coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, reserve setting, reporting, reinsurance analysis and reporting, and travel. It will support and assist functional departments, including marketing, risk management, finance and actuarial.

What will you do:

  • Day to day handling of caseload of line of business claims
  • Evaluating information on coverage, liability, and damages to resolve claims on reasonable terms and at an appropriate value.
  • Communicate with policyholders, experts, counsel and others to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company.
  • Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor.
  • Evaluate claims and make recommendations to management regarding claim resolution plans/strategies.
  • Negotiating settlements.
  • Retaining, directing, and managing litigation counsel.
  • Participate on, and sometimes lead, audits of TPA partners.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for information from management, underwriters, actuarial and other business partners.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, broker and TPA in the adjustment of mainstream casualty and property losses.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports to management regarding significant claim developments.
  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience with a degree of specialized and technical competence in the handling of General Liability/Auto claims and Premises Liability claims. Experience with Professional Lines claims is a plus.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing the application of general liability policies, contracts, lease agreements, risk transfer opportunities etc.
  • Ability to multi-task varied and significant matters.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $130,000 + Bonus Potential & Participation in our Competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program.

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope.
