Job Description

The Senior MRO Buyer is responsible for the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) materials, spare parts, equipment, and services supporting manufacturing, engineering, facilities, and warehouse operations in a regulated pharmaceutical and medical device environment. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, executes purchasing activities, and ensures the timely availability of critical materials to support equipment reliability and uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure MRO materials, spare parts, equipment, and services to support site operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers and service providers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, service agreements, and delivery terms to achieve cost savings and service improvements.
  • Manage purchase requisitions, purchase orders, expediting activities, and invoice resolution.
  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions.
  • Lead supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives, including min/max levels and critical spare parts strategies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and material master data within SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, Operations, and Finance teams to support business objectives.
  • Support capital projects by coordinating the procurement of equipment, materials, and contractor services.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, safety, and corporate procurement requirements.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Mitigate supply risks through supplier diversification, business continuity planning, and proactive market analysis.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience.
  • Experience purchasing MRO materials, spare parts, maintenance services, and indirect goods.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, or other FDA-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.


Preferred
  • CPIM, CPSM, CSCP, or PMP certification.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, facilities, engineering, or maintenance organizations.
  • Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO 13485, and supplier quality requirements.
  • Experience with capital equipment sourcing and project procurement.
