Full Job Description
As a Senior Buyer, you will play a key role in developing and executing category strategies that align with Amerequip's business objectives. This role involves sourcing, negotiations, contract management, and overseeing supplier performance to ensure quality and cost-efficiency. You will act as the primary liaison between suppliers and the organization, working closely across various departments to achieve optimal supply chain outcomes. There will also be opportunities for mentoring and guiding junior members of the purchasing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Material Cost Management: Conduct regular material cost reviews, analyze cost variances/changes, and implement action plans for cost control during supplier price negotiations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improvement projects aimed at enhancing supplier performance and adding value across the supply chain.
  • Supplier Relations: Lead supplier business reviews with strategic partners to ensure long-term success and alignment with business goals.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify financial or operational risks in the supply chain and develop proactive strategies to mitigate these risks and ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Leadership: Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment by demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem Solving: Address procurement and inventory challenges with a proactive, innovative, solution-oriented approach.
  • Optimization Initiatives: Drive material flow optimization and reduce waste across the supply chain, contributing to operational efficiencies.
  • Forecasting: Assist in the forecasting of purchasing trends to ensure timely material availability.
  • Contract Management: Negotiate and manage key supplier contracts, including master supply agreements, to ensure mutually beneficial and sustainable partnerships.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Proven Expertise: 5+ years of experience as a Senior Buyer or in a similar procurement role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Global Negotiation Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in negotiating with global suppliers and managing international procurement.
  • Supplier Performance Improvement: 5+ years of experience in improving supplier performance across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Flexibility: Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities with experience in securing favorable terms and conditions for the organization.
  • Vendor Management: Expertise in organizing and leading vendor meetings, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Cross-Functional Expertise: Ability to apply supply chain best practices and collaborate across departments to drive results and improve performance.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives.
