Overview

The Sr. Business Development Manager will be responsible for sales and marketing support for the Lovelace brand as it works to expand its efforts as a Contract Research Organization.

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Business Development Manager will work to uncover and cultivate business opportunities to generate revenue predominately via contact with prospective clients. The secondary responsibility will be to service and grow existing clients.  The Sr. Business Development Manager will also assist with follow-up on critical issues to complete quotes and promote positive customer experiences. The primary focus areas will be to assist in identifying, stewarding and securing business opportunities in five key areas of growth:  Inhalation toxicology, Infectious Disease, Gene Therapy Toxicology, Bioanalytical, and General Toxicology.  These areas will include but not be limited to chemistry, bioanalysis, toxicology, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, ADME/PK, program management services, and all other related Lovelace research areas as directed by Lovelace management.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, and 10+ years of directly related experience in comparable sales/business development positions; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

 

Must have demonstrated experience building relationships with clients, and demonstrated success rate in supporting business development activities as evidence by closed research agreements and contracts.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills (leading by example)
  • Demonstrated skills in developing strategic sales and marketing plans
  • Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth, closing complex deals, and meeting or exceeding aggressive sales or partnership targets
  • Strong strategic planning ability: market analysis, opportunity sizing, go‑to‑market planning, and pipeline prioritization.
  • Advanced sales and negotiation skills, including experience structuring multi‑year contracts, alliances, and complex commercial terms, building business cases, forecasting, and pricing.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Life science or preclinical research experience along with successful project management, client support, sales, territory management or business development experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office environment. The employee must be able to communicate effectively; operate a computer and standard office equipment; remain seated or stationary for extended periods; and occasionally move throughout the workplace to attend meetings and access files or equipment. The employee may occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 15 pounds.
