Sr. Benefits Analyst, Retirement Plans

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:Onsite, four days per week - Kohler, WI

Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of US Benefits, the Sr. Employee Benefits Analyst - Retirement Plans is a key member of the Kohler Co. Global Benefits Center of Expertise (COE), who supports the administration, accuracy and compliance of the Company's qualified and nonqualified pension, 401(k) savings and nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and other related special projects. This requires working knowledge of defined benefit pension plan and savings plan documents, compliance requirements, processes and procedures, and administration systems. The position also actively participates within the larger Global Benefits team to assist in meeting goals and objectives. This includes open communications at all levels, providing feedback, and presenting new ideas for improving the Global Benefits COE.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and Center of Expertise team member on matters associated with the Company's retirement plans.
  • Ensure accuracy of pension calculations and estimates in accordance with legal plan documents for associates.
  • Oversee the completeness, accuracy, and issuance of the applicable documents to be completed by the associate in order to claim benefits.
  • Educate associates and HR Business Partners on plan provisions and administrative processes.
  • Ensure timeliness and compliance of the review and approval of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs). Document and maintain internal impact to retirement benefits as appropriate.
  • Actively maintain files related to the pension and savings plan administration, including participant correspondence within the internal case management system.
  • Manage and maintain the co-sourced pension plan administration system including updates to demographic logic, annual system updates, and accurate calculations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive operational pension procedures and plan documentation. This involves ongoing review of existing procedures and identification of operational enhancements.
  • Oversee the accurate maintenance of participant level plan data.
  • Manage the coordination and completion of monthly and annual pension administration processes, including the preparation of information for the annual audit and government filings.
  • Manage external retirement plan partners, including third party administrators, attorneys, actuaries and auditors. Ensure their accurate and timely administration as well as uphold any service level agreements between the Company and our external partners.
  • Set the annual retirement plan communication strategy including the development, production and distribution of retirement plan communications.
  • Maintain legal plan documentation including annual regulatory updates as well as plan changes as applicable.
  • Manage associate level educational information and the accurate access for each location and class of associate.
  • Oversee plan administration (including internal partners such as GSS) to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance of participant enrollments, contributions, and distributions of the Company's qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Manage annual enrollment process for Deferred Compensation plans.
  • Develop and analyze plan and participant level reporting information in order to identify trends or inaccuracies.
  • Coordinate with HRIS and Payroll to identify and test changes in programming of Company's HCM in relation to retirement plan eligibility and data feeds.
  • Interact with internal departments and stakeholders to enable the coordinated financial management of the Company's retirement plans.
  • Serve as the department lead on retirement plan annual and ad hoc projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a preferred focus in math, business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of benefits administration experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience with defined benefit retirement plans.
  • Familiar with compliance and reporting requirements applicable to defined benefit qualified and nonqualified pension, 401(k) and nonqualified deferred compensation plans.
  • Established track record of developing and implementing project plans and administrative processes.
  • Proficiency with pension administration/participant database systems.
  • Experienced at communicating technical pension and 401(k) topics with plan participants.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills with high proficiency in Excel.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
