  • Contribute to regulatory initiatives, including evidence preparation and responses to interrogatories.
  • Lead and support accounting team members through cross-training opportunities.

We are looking for a Sr Advisor Accounting who will support the company's financial reporting and analysis functions, with a particular focus on accounting for regulated utilities and compliance with FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) guidance. This position is responsible for preparing, analyzing and reviewing financial data to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and to support strategic business decisions.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare, review and approve monthly journal entries (including Operating and Admin expenses, Revenue and Regulatory adjustments) and account reconciliations in support of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles
  • Prepare, analyze and review financial and regulatory reports, including income statement and balance sheet analyses, in accordance with US GAAP and/or FERC accounting guidance.
  • Analyze, review and communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual results, providing insights into variances and trends.
  • Support internal and external financial and regulatory audits, preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Review regulatory decisions and determine associated impacts; including regulatory research and analysis as required.
  • Collaborate with various groups within Finance and stakeholders regarding the inputs and impacts of complex deferral accounts.
  • Support Regulatory initiatives / proceedings, including the preparation of evidence, supporting schedules and interrogatory responses.
  • Contribute to special projects, system implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting department.
  • Provides leadership and support to other members of the Accounting team including cross training opportunities.


Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with Six or more years of directly related experience. with a CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in public practice accounting, technical accounting, external financial reporting, or accounting for regulated utilities preferred.
  • Understanding of US GAAP, FERC accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP/ accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Cloud, HFM), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines, including occasional overtime during reporting cycles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Good business acumen and understanding of the regulatory environment and reporting requirements.
  • Strong demonstrated competencies in interpersonal skills, oral and written communications, persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative in developing and implementing innovative approaches and solutions that have operational and financial benefits.
  • Familiarity and experience with the regulatory process including preparation of supporting evidence is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills to communicate simple to complex ideas appropriate to target audience.


Preferred:
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.


Working Conditions:
  • General office environment with recurring tight deadlines. Overtime is necessary and varies depending on deadlines.
  • Minimal travel requirement
