Job Description

Blue Cross NC is hiring a Senior Actuarial Analyst to support healthcare economics and financial forecasting efforts that help drive informed business decisions and deliver value across the organization. In this role, you will apply your knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, and business principles to evaluate performance for existing initiatives within the MedEcon Savings portfolio, as well as newly proposed initiatives across clinical, pharmacy, network, payment integrity, value-based care, and other key areas. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningful insights, strengthen financial performance, and support strategies that improve health care affordability and outcomes for our members.

What You’ll Do

  • Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of data to support savings measurements for various cost containment initiatives - both actual savings for existing programs and projected savings for newly-proposed ideas.

  • Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data from various sources including internal colleagues, internal databases, and external partners.

  • Develops and distributes established reports to internal and external stakeholders and responds to inquiries regarding results including investigations of material changes and/or anomalies.

  • Supports records management and documentation of our MedEcon Savings portfolio performance over prior, current, and forecasted years.

  • Plans, implements, manages and/or contributes to additional ad hoc projects that are moderate/high complexity.

  • Is a participant in good standing in the Actuarial Development Program

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

  • 4+ years of experience in relevant actuarial experience. Related experience may be considered.

  • Must have completed 5 or more exams towards the eventual attainment of the ASA designation.

  • In lieu of meeting minimum exam requirements, may consider additional relevant experience.

  • In lieu of meeting minimum experience requirement, may consider ASA or more exams towards the eventual attainment of ASA.

Bonus Points

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Excel, PPT, Word, etc.) and SQL

  • Prior healthcare-focused roles

  • Experience leveraging various developing AI capabilities

  • Mastery of SQL-based data queries and data management

  • Experience with data visualization applications such as Power-BI and Tableau

  • Experience creating and presenting external, client-facing materials and reports.

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.
