Full Job Description
GrafTech International has a challenging opportunity for a detail-oriented and analytically sharp accounting professional to join our corporate controllership team. T Sr. Financial Analyst. This role will participate in SEC reporting, month-end close processes, audit coordination, and process improvements. This role will own critical pieces of the month end close, participate in internal and external audit activities, and will drive process improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial statements, internal controls, and public company reporting requirements.This position will be located in Brooklyn Heights, OH.

Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Support consolidated financial statement preparation, contributing to a clean, timely close process.
  • Drive variance analysis and deliver meaningful, management ready insights on financial performance trends.


Audit Support & Internal Controls
  • Serve as a key liaison between the organization and external auditors coordinating requests, managing documentation, and facilitating a smooth audit process.
  • Support quarterly and annual audit cycles, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables across all phases.


Process Improvement & Special Projects
  • Identify and implement scalable improvements to financial reporting processes, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and team capacity.
  • Support technical accounting research and prepare documentation for complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial analyses and cross-functional projects, bringing structure and clarity to ambiguous problems.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, (Big 4 or public accounting experience a plus).
  • Solid command of GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX compliance, and financial reporting standards.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical instincts, a sharp eye for detail, and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communicator and confident problem-solver, comfortable working cross-functional.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Workiva, Longview consolidation software and/or JDE ERP.
  • Familiarity of XBRL tagging and SEC filing requirements.
