Position Description:

CGI is seeking a highly skilled SQL Developer with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL to manage, optimize, and scale our database architecture. In this role, you will be responsible for designing relational database solutions, developing efficient database code, and building robust ETL data pipelines. Additionally, you will bridge the gap between our structured systems and non relational data environments by bringing a foundational familiarity with NoSQL technologies like MongoDB. You will collaborate closely with software engineering and data teams to ensure high performance, data integrity, and cross platform availability.

***This position is located in our Fairfax, VA or Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable***

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Database Design & Development: Build and maintain scalable relational schemas, tables, views, and constraints across both PostgreSQL and MySQL environments.
Advanced Scripting: Write and optimize highly complex queries, triggers, CTEs, and stored procedures/routines tailored to dialect specific features (e.g., PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL).
ETL Pipeline Engineering: Design, implement, and monitor robust ETL/ELT data pipelines to extract data from disparate sources, transform it for business logic, and load it into target analytical databases or data warehouses.
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Conduct query optimization, configure execution plans, manage indexing strategies (such as B Tree, GIN, or Hash indexes in PostgreSQL), and resolve deadlocks or database bottlenecks.
Hybrid Data Collaboration: Support the integration of relational data systems with document oriented stores, utilizing your familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB for unstructured or semi structured data workflows.
Data Integrity & Security: Establish data security protocols, manage user roles and permissions, and collaborate on backup strategies to ensure disaster recovery readiness.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
RDBMS Expertise: Strong, hands on production experience engineering databases with PostgreSQL and MySQL.
ETL Proficiency: Proven experience building data pipelines using ETL tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, AWS Glue) or custom scripting languages.
NoSQL Familiarity: Conceptual and practical understanding of NoSQL database architecture, specifically MongoDB, including basic querying and JSON/BSON document structures.
Tooling: Proficiency with database management utilities such as pgAdmin or MySQL Workbench alongside version control systems like Git.
Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with a proven track record of diagnosing complex data performance anomalies and tuning slow running queries.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 $198,400.00.
