  • Formulate treatment plans based on comprehensive test results and medical histories
  • Educate patients and family members on effective communication techniques and coping strategies
  • Maintain detailed records and write reports to track evaluation, treatment progress, and discharge
  • Develop and implement individual or group activities to manage speech, language, fluency, voice, or swallowing challenges
  • Participate in planning and meetings including IEP and intervention assistance to ensure coordinated care

Qualifications:

Reports To:

The Speech Therapist will report to the Director of Therapy.
Essential Job Functions:

Diagnoses and treats individuals with speech, language, voice and fluency impairments.
Specific Job Duties:
  1. Performs hearing and/or speech and language examinations to learn the patient's degree of impairment.
  2. Evaluates hearing and /or speech and language test results.
  3. Evaluates barium swallow results and/or other test results and overall medical background information.
  4. Diagnoses patients and formulates treatment plans for speech, language, fluency, voice or swallowing impairments.
  5. Educates patients and family members about the various communication techniques or strategies to cope with the impairment.
  6. Writes reports and maintains client information for the purposes of evaluation, treatment progress and discharge of client.
  7. Performs administrative responsibilities, coordinates paperwork, writes lesson plans and schedules case management activities and/or any other appropriate patient information and/or recordkeeping for administrative, billing and caseload purposes.
  8. Develops individual and/or group activities and/or programs to manage behavior, speech, language or swallowing problems.
  9. Participates in and writes reports for meetings regarding patients' progress.
  10. Participates in the planning and implementing of individualized educational planning (IEP) meetings, in-service meetings, or intervention assistance team meetings.
  11. Instructs clients with techniques for more effective communication, such as sign language, lip reading or voice improvement.
  12. Willing to assist in our other CCHS facility
  13. Assists with keeping the department and gym area in order.

Physical Requirements
  1. Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the phone.
  2. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the phone.
  3. Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
  4. Other: Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds of medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements. Must be able to withstand prolonged or considerable walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching.

Pay: $44 per hour, per the Therapy PRN scale.
