Full Job Description
*Candidate must be able to work out of our San Diego, Hayward, or Foster City locations* Position Summary:  This position will support the Regional Project Planning function within Global Facilities and provide facility planning and construction design management to facilitate execution at multiple project scales and delivery methods in an energetic and fast-paced environment. The role is responsible for construction project and renovation space planning, estimation, scheduling, and resourcing. This person will work closely with consultants and internal stakeholders to create functional area program, layout, and to coordinate facility infrastructure support needs. The ideal candidate for this role has proven ability to identify and resolve issues resourcefully and independently, and will work to understand key business drivers, applying this knowledge to decision making. Specific Responsibilities: - Leading feasibility analysis and site master planning studies - Tracking 3 year horizon of planned efforts to inform project roadmap - Reporting on project requirements and space planning initiatives related to lab and office renovations and/or new construction - Developing options for facility renovations and creating reports and presentations on proposals - Partnering closely with Leadership to align the project strategy to support business development plans and initiatives - Defining and evaluating stakeholder objectives, contemplating solutions to these criteria - Communicating and managing these objectives with the architect, engineer, internal project managers, and/or general contractors, throughout the lifecycle of the construction project - Ensuring project planning complies with applicable codes, standards, and specifications - Ensuring project planning complies with internal validation and change control requirements - Understanding facility space impacts over multiple simultaneous planning efforts - Being accountable for preliminary project budget and schedule creation - Partnering with Procurement to create and execute contracts and purchase orders - Reviewing bid information and third party cost estimates for accuracy and determining award - Scheduling project review and sign off meetings, reviewing materials and methods of construction - Ensuring project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately after close out - Collaborating with internal key stakeholders and managing third-party consultants and vendors - Forecasting and documenting space needs based on departmental growth and change - Participating in the creation of engineering specifications and design standards - Daily operational support and other duties as needed or assigned General Behaviors: - High level of organization, detail-orientation, initiative, motivation, and reliability - Able to work independently to manage time and perform within required deadlines, managing business and functional priorities - Comfort with ambiguity and effectiveness during periods of uncertainty and change - Able to clearly communicate cross functionally about complex equipment system concepts with team members, other stakeholders and third parties - Build effective working relationships with peers and customer to influence decision making process towards business objective and stakeholder requirement - Plan for contingencies to overcome obstacles, setbacks and uncertainties to ensure delivery of results Qualifications: - Typically requires a minimum of 2-5 years of related experience - Must be able to create, read, and understand construction drawings and specifications, and to prepare diagrams, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules - Must understand principles and practices of construction and contract administration, architectural and engineering disciplines - Strong design and graphic presentation skills; able to lead and present to and interface with clients and consultants. - Must work well independently in a highly collaborative environment with minimal direction - Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project) - Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking problem-solving skills - Candidate should understand trends and best practices that shape laboratory environments including, casework, equipment, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Control Areas, - Experience with Revit, CAD drafting and Bluebeam advantageous - Experience with Laboratory and Environment, Health and Safety standards advantageous - Experience working in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry preferred Education: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline required. The estimated base salary range for the Facilities Project Planner role based in the United States of America is: $74,900 - $112,300. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
