About The Role

Under the direct supervision of the administrator and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Ingham Intermediate School District, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for providing supportive services for eligible students enrolled in regular, vocational, or special education programs. The Speech-Language Pathologist will focus on student evaluation, provision of direct and indirect therapy services, and collaborative consultation with staff, parents, agency personnel and administrators.

  • Facilitates teachers and parents in observing, describing and referring suspected speech and language impairments with students.
  • Provides comprehensive speech and language evaluation of students referred for suspected speech and language impairments through the IEP Evaluation Review process.
  • Serves as a member or coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team to provide and interpret the assessment of speech and language skills in determining appropriate placement in special education programs/services for eligible students.

About You

  • Full approval as a Speech-Language Pathologist through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) is required. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA is optional.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of speech/language development and pathology necessary to identify communication disorders and to develop appropriate programs and services for speech and language impaired students.
