Specialty Services Project Manager I, Field Outage Services

Role Overview

The Specialty Services Project Manager I is responsible for supporting an assigned region by managing complex planned and emergent outage projects from initiation through closeout. This role oversees project estimation, outage planning, resource and cost management, customer engagement, outage execution, and post-outage activities. The position is accountable for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Success in this role requires strong project management expertise, technical knowledge, customer focus, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Travel of approximately 25% is required.

Key Responsabilities

  • Leads the end-to-end execution of assigned outage projects, including planning, coordination, execution, and closeout activities.
  • Maintains overall project ownership and coordination with Savannah Machinery Works (SMW), Houston Repair & Tooling (HRT), Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis (MD&A), customers, and vendor partners.
  • Serves as the primary customer interface, providing project status updates, facilitating outage meetings, and aligning project objectives and KPIs.
  • Plans and manages outage readiness activities, including scheduling, tooling, mobilization, and resource coordination.
  • Monitors project performance against scope, schedule, and budget requirements while implementing corrective actions and escalating risks as needed.
  • Manages contract requirements, scope interpretation, Division of Responsibility (DOR), change management, and project controls.
  • Oversees financial performance, including forecasting, cost tracking, billing, receivables, and vendor invoice management.
  • Develops and maintains project documentation, reports, turnover packages, and project closeout records.
  • Ensures project milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements are achieved using established project management tools and processes.
  • Maintains compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and contractual requirements.
  • Supports issue resolution, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives through lessons learned, procedure enhancements, and escalation management.
  • Reviews outage planning tools and scope documents to proactively identify risks and readiness gaps.
  • Facilitates pre-outage meetings to review project scope, schedule, resources, opportunities, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Supports workforce planning and recruitment activities as needed.
  • Builds strong working relationships across Field Outage Services, Service Engineering, Parts, Product Line Management, and vendor organizations.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations for customer meetings, user conferences, and internal stakeholders.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Six (6) or more years of relevant industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of turbine-generator technology, including design principles, testing methods, diagnostics, operations, and maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities.
  • Experience developing project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and performance reports.
  • Strong contract administration, scope management, and change control experience.
  • Proficiency with project management, database, spreadsheet, word processing, email, graphics, and technical software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, managers, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%.
