Full Job Description
This is an onsite role supporting a leading health system in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Position Summary

Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients receiving specialty medications; Reviews and verifies prescription orders and patient information; Educates patients, caregivers, in healthcare providers regarding specialty therapies, medication administration, adherence, and potential adverse effects; Coordinates patient enrollment, medication access, prior authorization, financial assistance, and ongoing therapy management; identifies and resolves medication related problems and monitors clinical outcomes; collaborates with providers, payers, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards; Serves as a specialty medication resource and maintains current knowledge of specialty disease states, therapies, and industry best practices.

Core Responsibilities
  • Review, verify, and dispense specialty medication prescriptions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and clinical best practices.
  • Assess patients receiving specialty therapies through initial and ongoing clinical evaluations; Provide education and counseling; Monitor adherence, efficacy, and safety; and document clinical interventions and outcomes.
  • Coordinate specialty medication access services, including benefits investigation, prior authorization, appeals, patient assistant programs, and manufacturer enrollment processes.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for specialty medications and disease dates, collaborating with providers and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize therapeutic Outcomes and resolve medication-related concerns.
  • Support specialty pharmacy quality, accreditation, and performance initiatives by maintaining accurate documentation, participating in quality improvement activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and payer requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an A.C.P.E. accredited college or university required.

Licenses/Certifications: Current Mississippi Pharmacist licensure required.

Experience: Internship and externship required for Mississippi licensure required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of pharmacy practice principles, pharmacotherapy, medication safety, patient counseling, and clinical monitoring.
  • Knowledge of applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and healthcare delivery systems.
  • Understanding of medication use processes, healthcare reimbursement principles, and interdisciplinary patient care period
  • Strong clinical assessment, patient counseling, communication, problem-solving, medication therapy management, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, pharmacy systems, and related technologies.
  • Ability to evaluate and monitor complex specialty therapies; Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams; Manage medication access barriers; Educate patients and caregivers; Prioritize multiple responsibilities; And maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.


Equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree or years of experience may be considered, provided the candidate can demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the role.
