Position and Responsibilities

Reporting to the manager, maintenance & material handling, you will oversee the management, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of waste and safeguarded nuclear material inventories, ensuring effective inventory control, reporting, and alignment with regulatory and internal requirements. You will support waste management activities including processing inventory transactions, inventory tracking, characterization, disposal planning, shipment coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives, while serving as a key resource for regulatory inspections and compliance reporting. You will lead safeguards accountancy activities, ensuring accurate material balances, preparing regulatory submissions including daily/weekly declarations and CNSC general ledgers, and ensuring auditable inventory records that support operational excellence and regulatory compliance. You will lead regulatory safeguards inspections including short notice random inspections, physical inventory taking and verification inspections.

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:
    • Undergraduate degree in engineering or science related degree
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
    • Ability to investigate discrepancies, reconcile balances and resolve inventory issues
    • Knowledge and understanding of waste characterization and pathway analysis for new waste streams

Assets:
    • Experience gained from within a chemical or petrochemical continuous operation
    • Transportation of dangerous goods certified
    • SAP experience
