Job Title: Specialist, Procurement (Material Estimator) Job Location: Norfolk, VA, Camden, NJ, Northampton, MA, Millersville, MD or Anaheim, CA Job Schedule: 9/80 Job Description:The Material Estimator will work and is responsible for accurately compiling the complete cost of materials needed for various projects and tasks in support of production and spares proposals
.Essential Functions:Responsible for all aspects of proposal material estimating including but not limited to the following:
- Meticulously generates a Consolidated Bill of Materials (CBOM), tailored to align with the specific schedule and unique demands of each proposal based on the RFP.
- Leverages a combination of supplier quotes, historical purchase data, price lists/catalogs, available stock materials, engineering estimates, and any relevant adjustments to determine items to be sent out for supplier quotations.
- Conduct thorough analyses of technical drawings, parts lists, specifications, and related documents to accurately ascertain estimating needs.
- Compiles, reviews, and approves all material cost data and provides the accurate detailed priced complete CBOM spreadsheet/report with lead-times to the Pricing Department.
- Effectively communicates with external individuals and internal customers to deliver projects under pressure and meet proposal deadlines and budget contraints to external customers.
- Actively supports GATE reviews and robust support during Customer/DCAA audits.
- Ensures that all estimations and procurement activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of estimated and actual material usage for future reference and continuous improvement of estimation processes.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Aerospace/Defense industry experience
- Ability to create Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables, Excel Vlookups and organization of large amounts of data
- Working knowledge of material pricing techniques
- Strong presentation skills and attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills and adept at resolving time sentitive problems
- Understanding and working knowledge of engineering documentation and product configuration
- Must have advanced computer skills (preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and a solid understanding and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Costpoint and SAP preferred)
Preferred Additional Skills:- Ability to work and prioritize effectively and complete work timely in a deadline driven environment
- Understanding of Business Acquisition Process
- Knowledge of FAR 15-2, COPD and Truth and Negotiations Act
- Support proposal strategy discussion with cost insights and risk assessments
- Develop and refine estimating methodologis and tools
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $73,000-135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
