Position Summary:

The Specialist II Field Merchandising is responsible for supporting the execution of sales strategies, programs and initiatives, delivering all financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and developing talent. Partners with the merchandising planning team in implementing the Commercial Plan and communications to stores. This role also works closely with Operations to ensure agreed upon execution of merchandising plans and provides support to District Directors on specific product areas.

Planning and Implementation
  • Conduct store visits, spending most of the time coaching and developing fresh departments to achieve business results and goals inclusive of new role, ongoing development and Electronic Learning Modules (ELM) completion.
  • Drive operational execution of all fresh departments including sales plans, training, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), floor plans, store design/layout and advertisements to ensure all stores meet standards and expectations.
  • Accountable for programs and Initiatives:
  • Help Directors implement the retail plans and execution components, tactics and SOPs.
  • Identifies impact on store operations and provides recommendations (removes barriers and obstacles).
  • Partners with Category Teams to build plans and playbooks.
  • Supports implementation with cross functional teams.
  • Playbooks: Holiday and Initiatives:
  • Works with Directors to implement plans that include execution


Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Understand competitive landscape/market and report significant findings to Directors and Merchandising.
  • Monitor fresh departments sales trends reacting as necessary to solve problems or opportunities and gauging performance against programs/plans to determine effectiveness.
  • Partner with Operations for new store and remodel store openings.


What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5+ Year of experience in retail sales operations or merchandising.
  • Experience in facilitation, training, and coaching sales professionals
  • Strong in building and maintaining relationships
  • Experienced at establishing priorities and meeting swift deadlines in a fast pace, rapidly changing retail environment
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Proactive, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Deep commitment to building a culture of workplace excellence and experience leading through organizational change.
  • Ready to travel anywhere in the DC/VA/MD/DE area

Salary Range: $80,925 - $107,900

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include, but are not limited to, responsibilities of the role, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable law.

This position will be on-site at the Giant Food Headquarters in Hyattsville, MD.
