The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialist, Commercial, to join our Commercial Solutions Team.

As the Specialist, Commercial, you will Support the Commercial Solutions Team by leading the execution of Purchased Feed, Offtake Agreements and Intermediate Sales contracts and by supporting the Intermediate Transformation of materials for Vale Base Metals. Support the Commercial Solutions group by sourcing new and alternative materials to maximize metal production and revenue. Maintain, track and keep accurate records of all activities.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Lead and execute purchased feed, and offtake contracts, including coordinating delivery to sites, resourcing weighing/sampling at point of delivery and all commercial aspects including assay exchange, auditing, invoicing etc.
  • Monitor and manage production and quality metrics as they relate to contractual requirements, identifying issues and independently lead resolutions
  • Manage, track and keep accurate records of all activities relating to purchased feed and intermediate materials, including month end activities, inventory status and consumption trends.
  • Work collaboratively with the Vale Commercial Logistics Team, Vale Sales and Operational Planning, Vale Operations, Vale Technical Leadership, Vale Central Lab Superintendent, Supervisors, Analytical and, Sample Preparation teams by consulting with, providing direction and resolving technical issues.
  • Provide leadership by directing contractors, warehouse providers and 3rd party laboratories to ensure the safe and efficient execution of services. Validate invoices and submit for payment.
  • Health, Safety and Environment: Uphold Vale Safety Standards by holding service contractors accountable for safety policies and procedures (VES, SDS') i.e. PPE while sampling. Support in identifying and mitigating risks, and provide coaching and guidance directly to external contractor sites (e.g. warehouse) regarding health, safety and environment issues identified.
  • Communicate and attend routine meetings with key Vale Base Metals internal stakeholders including Corporate Logistics, Operations, Technical Services, Commercial Solutions, Procurement etc. to ensure purchased and intermediate feeds are delivered, available and consumed in a timely manner.
  • Support the evaluation of new materials into the Vale Base Metals global flowsheet by providing technical and commercial guidance, drafting contracts and leading trials.
  • Lead and main point of contact for internal and external audits (SO2, Annual Inventory, External Materials).
  • Travel required


About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree / Diploma in Chemical Engineering/Technology

Experience:
  • 10+ years of work experience

Skills:
  • Familiar with weighing, sampling and analytical methods and equipment is essential
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze complex data. Proficiency in data management and reporting software.
  • Operational and/or technical experience in an industrial operating environment
  • Ability to develop positive relationships and address critical issues with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent computer skills including data base management, excel, word etc.
