Job DescriptionA public-sector transportation agency is seeking a Software Developer Specialist to support AI-driven software development initiatives. The selected candidate will focus on engineering-related software services, including:
- Model ingestion and deployment
- Automated quantity extraction
- Plan conformance validation
- CI/CD automation
- AI-powered transportation engineering solutions
The role involves transforming proof-of-concept AI models into scalable, production-ready web applications that support transportation engineering workflows. Responsibilities include developing secure, enterprise-grade web interfaces, integrating AI/ML solutions, and supporting digital delivery, roadway asset detection, and plan review automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deploy scalable AI/ML-powered web applications.
- Build and maintain secure, enterprise-ready software solutions.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
- Integrate machine learning, computer vision, and LLM technologies into business workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to modernize transportation-related processes.
- Support cloud-based AI/ML infrastructure and production deployments.
- Optimize model performance and manage MLOps workflows.
Required Skills & Experience
Cloud & Infrastructure (8+ Years)- AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
- AI/ML cloud services such as Azure AI, AWS SageMaker/Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, and OCI AI Services.
DevOps & Automation (8+ Years)- Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible.
- CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
Databases (8+ Years)- SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- NoSQL and vector databases.
Scripting (8+ Years)Python Development (3+ Years)- Production-level Python development experience.
AI/ML & Data Science (3+ Years)- NLP and LLMs (BERT, GPT, T5, RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering).
- Time-series forecasting and anomaly detection.
- Recommender systems and personalization engines.
- Computer vision using PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, YOLO, object detection, and segmentation.
- Distributed model training and multi-GPU environments.
- Feature engineering and feature stores (Feast, Tecton).
- Model optimization techniques including quantization, pruning, and knowledge distillation.
- Experience with Ollama, Hugging Face, or other open-source/non-frontier models.
MLOps (3+ Years)- MLflow
- Weights & Biases
- Kubeflow
- Airflow or similar platforms
Production AI Experience (2+ Years)- Successfully built and deployed ML models serving real-world users.
Preferred Qualifications- GIS and geospatial data analysis experience.
- Transportation, logistics, or smart city domain experience.
- Computer vision applications for infrastructure or vehicle-related data.
- Public-sector security, compliance, and governance experience.
- Unreal Engine and digital twin technologies.
- Google Maps and Cesium API experience.
- Polygonflow Dash experience.
