Job Description and Responsibilities

This is a full-time, on-site role as a Special Education Teacher serving a school located in Cambridge, MD.

The Special Education Teacher (SPED) will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

Job Details

  • Full-time school-based opportunity with a 37.5-hour weekly schedule
  • On-site, in-person position supporting students in grades 9-12
  • Provide specialized educational services, complete student evaluations, support case management responsibilities, and collaborate with school teams
  • Develop and implement individualized student support plans while monitoring progress and adjusting services as needed
  • Partner with educators, families, and related service providers to support student success and positive outcomes
  • Guaranteed paid hours include direct student support, documentation, planning, meetings, and administrative responsibilities
  • Receive ongoing collaboration and guidance from both the partnering school district and the TheraPeds team
  • Maintain a balanced caseload within a supportive high school environment
  • Competitive compensation with guaranteed hours throughout the school year $50 - $60+/hour ($1875-$2250/week+)

Requirements

  • Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
  • State License as as SPED teacher
  • 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience working with children
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Fingerprint background clearance
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications


Physical Requirements

Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
