Position Description:The Special Education Supervisor provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of the District's special education programs and services. This position ensures compliance with federal and state special education laws and regulations while supporting high-quality instructional practices and services for students with disabilities.
Qualifications:- Master's Degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field required.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement required.
- Approval as a Special Education Supervisor through the Michigan Department of Education or eligibility to obtain approval preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in special education teaching and/or leadership.
- Thorough knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, Section 504, ADA, and other applicable federal and state special education regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with IEP development, compliance monitoring, and special education programming.
- Experience supervising staff, coaching teachers, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight for all special education programs and services within the District.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, MARSE, Section 504, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor and support the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Supervise and evaluate special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers.
- Provide coaching, professional development, and technical assistance to staff.
- Review and monitor special education records, evaluations, timelines, and documentation.
- Coordinate referrals, evaluations, eligibility determinations, and placement decisions.
- Participate in and facilitate IEP meetings and related proceedings.
- Collaborate with general education staff to promote inclusive practices.
- Analyze student performance and program data to improve outcomes.
- Assist in budget planning and resource allocation.
- Serve as a liaison with families, ISD personnel, and community agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency in educational technology, student information systems, and special education compliance platforms.

Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and use of technology and office equipment.
Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Chief Academic Officer in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
