This role involves supervising and evaluating special education staff, overseeing program development and service delivery, chairing IEP meetings, and ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and team builder, working closely with elementary principals, assistant principals, and special education teams to deliver high-quality, individualized services for students with disabilities.
This is a leadership opportunity for a results-oriented special education administrator with strong organizational, instructional, and interpersonal skills. The coordinator will help ensure equity, consistency, and quality of special education services across North Andover's elementary schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Provide leadership and administrative oversight of special education programming in the elementary schools.
- Supervise and evaluate elementary special education teachers and teaching assistants.
- Chair IEP, annual review, re-evaluation, and eligibility meetings.
- Support the implementation of IEP services, curriculum adaptations, and accommodations.
- Collaborate with elementary principals and assistant principals on scheduling of special education services, teacher schedules, and student placement decisions.
- Coordinate and monitor student evaluations, service delivery, and program alignment with best practices and district priorities.
- Support program development that is responsive to student needs and ensures legal compliance.
- Liaise with parents, staff, and building administrators to support effective communication and service implementation.
- Plan and deliver professional development and instructional coaching for special education staff.
- Ensure consistent compliance with IDEA, MA DESE, and 603 CMR 28.00.
- Maintain all necessary timelines, documentation, and data systems.
- Commit district resources in accordance with special education planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education.
