Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a resilient, high-energy, Spacesuit Design Engineer with experience in designing engineered products in an industrial environment. A successful candidate will have a strong background designing in a CAD environment, prototyping, and testing. This role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills. Experience with the design and manufacturing of engineered softgoods is desirable.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work on a collaborative team developing Axiom's Spacesuit
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze technical products using applied engineering principles
  • Perform engineering design evaluations
  • Procure, assemble and test advanced prototypes to inform design decisions and to demonstrate performance
  • Prepare and present designs at various design and test readiness reviews
  • Produce other standard design documentation
  • Assist in the development of requirements for hardware
  • Work with the team to provide guidance on design for manufacturability and maintenance
  • Ensure designs meet safety requirements and demonstrate performance through verification and validation testing
  • Support production of hardware, evaluate anomalies, and incorporate corrective actions
  • Communicate project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
  • Implement and maintain agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 2-12 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD environment
  • Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
  • Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements
  • This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
