SUMMARY

As a GSW Engineer at Firefly Spacecraft, you’ll design and develop high-performance, intuitive software that enables real-time testing and operation of space vehicles. Your work will directly support our Blue Ghost lander missions to the moon. You’ll collaborate in small, focused teams throughout the entire development process, contributing to testing, simulations, and live operations. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and test user interfaces for Firefly’s space vehicles.
  • Lead full-cycle development, from ground testing to lunar surface operations.
  • Conduct simulations to validate software performance and mission readiness.
  • Create modern, efficient command and control systems for lunar landers.
  • Work closely with payload and subsystem teams to ensure mission control systems support successful operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Experience developing and debugging web-based charts, graphs, and dashboards
  • Experience integrating live time-series data into web-based user interfaces
  • Experience using time-series databases
  • Experience using Python and JavaScript/Typescript
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with source code configuration management and version control concepts
  • Outstanding energy, initiative, and the ability to work well with other team members
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with multiple functional groups across multiple sites

Desired

  • Experience using InfluxDB
  • Experience using Grafana and setting up Grafana dashboards
  • Experience using PostgreSQL, or SQL in general
  • Experience using Go
  • Experience using web frameworks, especially React or Django.
  • Experience with F Prime or similar embedded system development framework
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, or STEM field
  • Experience using the Atlassian Tool Suite Confluence, JIRA, and Bitbucket

The company was founded in 2013 with the goal of developing low-cost launch vehicles for the small satellite industry. Firefly's Alpha rocket was designed to carry payloads of up to 1,000 kg to low Earth orbit. The company was acquired by EOS Launcher in 2017 and is now known as Firefly Aerospace. Firefly Aerospace is continuing the development of the Alpha rocket and is also working on a larger rocket called Beta, which is designed to carry payloads of up to 8,000 kg to low Earth orbit.
