Space Systems Engineer - Space Protection

Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Position Description

Stratos Solutions is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) support to a government customer in Colorado Springs, CO. This position will focus on space protection, mission resilience, systems engineering, and integration of critical space capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Support Government systems engineering and space protection activities across the system lifecycle.
  • Assess space mission architectures for threats, vulnerabilities, risks, resilience, survivability, and mission assurance.
  • Evaluate protection considerations across spacecraft, ground systems, communications, command and control, and mission operations.
  • Support development and evaluation of space protection strategies, requirements, architectures, and courses of action.
  • Apply threat-informed systems engineering to identify vulnerabilities, mission impacts, and potential mitigation approaches.
  • Review technical documentation and provide clear analysis and recommendations to Government leadership.
  • Represent Government interests in engineering reviews, working groups, and technical forums.
  • Coordinate across Government, SETA, FFRDC, intelligence, operations, and contractor organizations to resolve technical and mission challenges.
Required Qualifications

  • Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements, integration, risk management, and configuration/change management.
  • Understanding of space mission architectures and the interaction between space, ground, communications, and mission operations segments.
  • Ability to assess complex technical and operational risks and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written/verbal communication, collaboration, and customer-facing skills.
  • Self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with space protection, space control, mission assurance, resilience, survivability, or space domain awareness.
  • Experience with threat, vulnerability, mission risk, or resiliency assessments for space systems.
  • Knowledge of satellite constellations, orbital operations, spacecraft and ground systems, communications, and command and control.
  • Understanding of protection concepts including redundancy, disaggregation, proliferation, reconstitution, maneuver, and operational continuity.
  • Spacecraft or ground systems operations experience, particularly in degraded or contested environments.
  • Familiarity with MBSE/Digital Engineering, Agile, cloud technologies, Jira, and Confluence.
