CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
We are seeking a Space Systems MBSE Engineer to develop and maintain system models that support requirements development, architecture definition, interface management, verification planning for Space program execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SysML-based system models throughout the development lifecycle.
- Create and manage key SysML artifacts, including Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), state machine diagrams, sequence diagrams, and use cases.
- Capture, allocate, derive, and trace system requirements within the model.
- Generate and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) from model-defined interfaces.
- Support system architecture, trade studies, interface definition, and requirements verification activities.
- Partner with systems, hardware, software, test, and program teams to ensure the model accurately reflects the system design and requirements baseline.
- Establish and maintain model quality, consistency, traceability, and configuration-management practices.
- Manage verification and validation (V&V) activities using MBSE, including modeling verification methods, tracing requirements to verification artifacts, and monitoring verification status within the system model.
- Advocate for digital engineering (DE) and MBSE adoption across programs, promoting model-based practices that improve technical consistency, traceability, collaboration, and lifecycle execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles on complex technical programs.
- Proficiency with SysML and development of BDDs, IBDs, state diagrams, sequence diagrams, and use case diagrams.
- Demonstrated real-world experience applying MBSE to support the systems engineering V-lifecycle process, from stakeholder needs and requirements decomposition through architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
- Demonstrated experience with requirements management, decomposition, derivation, allocation, and traceability within a system model.
- Experience defining interfaces and generating ICDs from model content.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements development, architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting space, satellite, launch, ground-system, or other aerospace hardware programs.
- Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with DOORS, Jama, or other requirements-management tools.
- Experience developing verification and validation artifacts from model-based requirements and architecture.
