Full Job Description
Title:
Space Systems Engineer

KBR has an opportunity for a Space Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services focused on support for systems engineering activities and protection of space systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directly contribute to government's mission success through comprehensive analysis, thought leadership and proactive action.
  • Assist in planning and oversight of the government's systems engineering efforts.
  • Support space protection and mission integration as directed by the government.
  • Review documentation, represent government interests in forums that support streamlined delivery of new capabilities and standardization of integration efforts.


Work Environment:
  • Location: On-site
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 20%
  • Working Hours: Standard


Basic Compensation:

$110,000 - $120,000 USD annually

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • US Citizenship
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) or relevant field, and three (3) years or more experience, Masters in STEM or relevant field, and one (1) year or more experience.
  • Experience in systems engineering processes (e.g. SE lifecycle, risk management, change management, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of integrating Government capabilities into operations baseline.
  • Expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics; succinctly captures issues for the customer and provides analysis and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, operate effectively with contractor, SETA, FFRDC, and Government teammates.
  • Self-starter, anticipates and proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision, ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal) with impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment.
  • Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder.


QUALIFICATIONS

Desired:
  • Working knowledge of joint operations planning processes.
  • Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft or ground systems operator
  • Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development, cloud technologies
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence
  • Knowledge of satellite constellations, spacecraft orbit, and ground station characteristics.
  • Knowledge of space protection topics related to satellite operations (e.g. launch, communications, navigation, maneuvers, etc.), threat/risk assessments, vulnerability analysis.
