Overview

We have an excellent opportunity to serve as aSoftware Developeron the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Avionics and Software Computer Resources team. This team develops software and the underlying IT platforms that supports the International Space Station. The position includes software design, implementation, testing, user support, and maintenance of systems developed under the Integrated Mission Operations Contract III (IMOC) Contract.

Responsibilities

TheSpace Operations Computing - Software Engineerwill:

  • Collaborate with System Engineers, System Testers, Software Developers, and the user community.
  • Perform software design, implementation, testing, and provide user support after release.
  • Interface with customers and provide support to the user community as required.
  • Approach unfamiliar technical tasks with initiative and curiosity using research, experimentation, asking questions, and iterative learning to determine effective solutions.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team environment.
  • Support Apple device management tasks including configuration, enrollment, compliance, and troubleshooting for managed iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices.
  • Assist with virtualization technologies as part of ISS platform infrastructure.
  • Contribute to automation and configuration management using Ansible for systems and platform components.
Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, plus five (5) years99 experience
  • Experience with a subset of the following technologies: C/C++/C#, Java, JavaScript, Unix/Linux, Windows, web development, Apple device management solutions (such as Jamf) and supervised Apple devices, virtualization technologies, and Ansible for automation and configuration management.
  • Ability to learn quickly when facing new or non-traditional technical challenges.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for customer and team interactions.
  • Strong initiative, teamwork, and critical thinking abilities.

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
