Baccarat Hotel New York, a Forbes 5-Star property with a Michelin Key, located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, is a luxurious and iconic destination that sets the standard for opulence and elegance. The Baccarat Hotel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sommelier to join our prestigious team.

This position supervises 40+ employees in the Restaurant/Bar and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees within the department.

The Sommeliercarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The salary range for this position is $85K - $90K. This position is incentivized through a bonus program tied to budgeted wine sales performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with chefs to perfectly match wines, spirits
  • Curating the restaurant's wine list, sourcing bottles from distributors, and managing inventory and storage
  • Educating servers, bartenders, and other front-of-house staff on wine regions, flavors, and proper service techniques.

Key Qualifications:
  • Three years Food & Beverage management in luxury world class hotel
  • Three years technical Food & Beverage experience and/or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Previous employee management in Local 6 union environment
  • Primary quality detailed service ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal staff and guest relations.
  • Team minded approach to fellow workers.
  • Ability to apply commons sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
