OverviewGovCIO is currently hiring for a Solutions/Systems Engineerto design, implement, and maintain audiovisual systems supporting Special Operations.This position will be located in Fayetteville, NC and will be an onsite position.
Responsibilities
Provides essential, hands-on technical and project management support directly aligned with contract requirements and mission objectives. This position is integral to the successful delivery, operation, and sustainment of complex audiovisual (AV) systems and related infrastructure at contract sites, ensuring all engineering activities are performed in direct support of the program and its operational goals.
1. Design, Implementation, and Maintenance of AV Systems
- Designs, implements, and maintains advanced AV systems tailored to client and mission requirements, including hardware selection, software configuration, and integration with architectural elements.
- Ensures all designs comply with AVIXA CTS standards and industry best practices for performance, scalability, and security.
- Conducts site surveys to assess environmental factors, infrastructure readiness, and user needs,
- Guides the Technical Writer and Computer-Aided Design Technician in producing comprehensive technical documentation (wiring diagrams, equipment specs, installation guides, project timelines) to facilitate seamless execution.
2. Operational Support and Troubleshooting
- Manages the Installation Team and provides oversight in the following areas:
- Provides direct operational support in troubleshooting AV equipment (projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, video conferencing systems, control interfaces), ensuring reliable system operation for local and remote users.
- System testing, commissioning, and calibration, verifying functionality, quality, and interoperability.
- Delivering hands-on end-user training, developing user manuals, and providing ongoing technical support to maximize system utilization and client satisfaction.
3. Collaboration and Integration
- Collaborates closely with clients, vendors, architects, IT professionals, and construction teams to coordinate project milestones, address technical challenges, and guarantee smooth integration of AV solutions within broader facility frameworks.
- Coordinates cross-functional teams and facilitates communication between engineering and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and timely project delivery.
4. Project Management and Documentation
- Develops comprehensive project plans, defining clear objectives, deliverables, timelines, and milestones to guide projects from initiation to completion.
- Allocates and manages project resources (personnel, equipment, budget) to ensure optimal efficiency and adherence to financial constraints.
- Tracks and analyzes project progress using performance metrics and reports, implementing proactive corrective actions as needed.
- Establishes rigorous quality assurance processes to guarantee all deliverables meet or exceed established standards and client expectations.
- Maintains accurate records of service, repairs, upgrades, and installations; implements preventative maintenance schedules; and upholds compliance with safety regulations, industry codes, and environmental standards throughout all project phases.
5. Continuous Improvement and Professional Development
- Stays current with emerging technologies, AV industry trends, and evolving CTS certification guidelines.
- Participates in professional development, attends industry conferences, and evaluates new products to ensure solutions remain current, secure, and efficient.
6. Direct Contract Support Justification
- All engineering activities are performed in direct support of the program, as outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Program Management Plan:
- Supports system engineering, integration, installation, testing, logistics, technical field assistance, and sustainment as required by contract deliverables.
- Maintains joint management of the AV Integrated Logistics Support Plan (ILSP) for AV systems (VIDS, expeditionary AV, conference rooms) supporting GCTC sites.
- Assists in proposal generation, technical documentation, and risk mitigation, ensuring compliance with government and industry standards.
- Ensures the engineering team provides adequate surge support and rapid response installation/maintenance as mission requirements dictate.
7. Leadership and Team Development
- Oversees daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely project delivery.
- Mentors and supports engineering staff, promoting professional development and team engagement.
- Reports on operational performance to senior leadership and recommends improvements as needed.
Qualifications
High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience
- Clearance Required: TS/SCI
- AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (or equivalent)
- Technical expertise in engineering principles and AV system design/integration
- Project management and scheduling proficiency
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills
