Snapshot of Your Day:
We are looking for a Solutions Engineer - Lead Engineer in Houston, TX to design and upgrade diverse complex control systems for rotating equipment, specializing in compressors, per current standards and technical codes.

How You'll Make an Impact:
  • Design automatic control system solutions for existing rotating equipment (modifications/upgrades) and assist with the design for new units.
  • Design and/or understanding of control algorithms for specialized control system functions.
  • Responsible for creation or modification of documents which include but are not limited to face layout, bill of materials, input and output list, schematic diagrams, terminal block layout, alarm and shutdown matrix, control narrative, loop diagrams, factory acceptance tests, and other contract specific documents.
  • Participate in the project meetings through the project lifecycle from handover from marketing, through final design review and testing related meetings.
  • 10% domestic travel required.
  • Telecommuting permitted.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation/Controls Engineering, or related field and 8 years of experience.
  • Full term of experience must include: Compressor Controls Systems;
  • Ability to understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&IDs), instrument datasheets and electrical schematics;
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including OPC, Modbus, Ethernet, Profibus, etc.;
  • O&G upstream, midstream, downstream, turbo-generation;
  • Auxiliary systems like seal gas and lubrication, vibration monitoring, fire and gas systems, safety systems, definition, and selection of instrumentation;
  • Panel design, cable tray, conduit layouts, junction box design, cable sizing and routing;
  • Surveys, installation and commissioning of instruments, valves control and local panels;
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Society of Automation (ISA), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and familiar with Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Atmospheres EXplosibles (ATEX), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), American Petroleum Institute (API);
  • Programmable logic controllers and human machine interface, including but not limited to Rockwell Control Logix, GE, Triconex, Siemens SIMATIC;
  • Knowledge of Bently Nevada, Detronics Fire and Gas, Woodward Micronet and CCC;
  • Motor driven reciprocating compressors;
  • VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) equipment; and
  • Safety instrumented systems.
  • 10% domestic travel required.
