About the role
As a Solutions Engineer I you will:
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to partners, prospects, and customers.
• Lead technical discovery conversations to understand business and technical requirements.
• Deliver tailored product demonstrations and technical presentations aligned to customer use cases.
• Design and guide proofs of concept (POCs), evaluations, and technical validations.
• Partner with Sales to develop technical win strategies and address technical objections.
• Help partners qualify opportunities and map SmartBear solutions to customer needs.
• Contribute to functional and technical responses for RFIs/RFPs.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, and Customer Success to support partner and customer success.
• Convey product feedback, field insights, and feature requests to internal teams.
• Support partner enablement through training, webinars, and technical resources.
• Comfortable working with software resellers, partners, or third-party stakeholders.
• Strong presentation, storytelling, and whiteboarding skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Represent SmartBear at industry events and partner engagements (approximately 5% travel).
We are looking for you if you have:
• 2+ years of experience in a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or customer-facing technical role.
• Experience presenting or explaining technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Experience working with customers, partners, or internal stakeholders to solve technical challenges.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and articulate their value.
Technical Background
• Familiarity with UI and API test automation concepts and tools.
• Working knowledge of modern automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright).
• Basic understanding of CI/CD workflows and Git-based development practices.
• Experience working with APIs programmatically using JavaScript or Python.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Understanding of networking fundamentals or security best practices.
• Experience supporting technical evaluations or pre-sales engagements.
• Experience with API design and documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI

Your SmartBear total rewards compensation package includes base salary and may also include a commission. The Annual Cash Compensation (Base + On-Target Commission) range for this role is listed below. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic location.
