Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Solutions Engineer will lead the proposal / estimating process, providing engineering insight into the conceptualization and documentation of detailed manufacturing plans to 3Dprint, CNC machine and assemble parts in support of programs that range from small run prototype jobs to high volume production jobs. Proposals / estimates will cover various sectors to include aerospace, commercial launch, and defense.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop Quotes / Proposals for RFQs presented to the sales team.
  • Evaluates and documents risks associated with an RFQ or quotation regarding part geometry, applicability of manufacturing method requested, internal capability, delivery, material, and outside processing requirements.
  • Develop documented production plans for part manufacture including which equipment will be utilized, cycle times, quotes for outside processing and pre-production planning estimates such as programming and build file preparations.
  • Communicate with outside vendors to acquire quotes for planning purposes.
  • Develop plans for long term projects that include ramp ups, equipment purchases and staffing increases.
  • Provide technical oversight of incoming proposals for feasibility and communicate with RFQ initiator, internal and external, regarding production concerns or missing information.
  • Manage PO review process after receipt of PO to facilitate acceptance and turnover to production team.
  • Take part in manufacturing reviews for project kickoff with production team.
  • Communicate cross - functionally with production, engineering, quality, and program management to identify gaps in proposals.
  • Ensure handoff to Program management provides all required documentation, correspondence and company contacts required to executer on projects.

Propshop Responsibilities:
  • Contract review and successful Sales- to-Operations project hand-off.
  • Develop and manage time lines for new and repeat manufacturing projects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with customers during the development phases, as well as, throughout project execution.
  • Develop cross-functional teams to lead project plan development and execution that meets internal and contractual requirements with emphasis on timeline and budget constraints.
  • Proactively manage risks and issues that could impact customer commitments.
  • Monitor and deliver job status information to customers and senior management.
  • Management of customer Kan-Ban and Vendor Managed Inventory agreements.
  • Management of outsourced projects including vendor qualification, PO initiation and schedules.


Requirements

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proven experience as an Quoting specialist with engineering experience
  • High attention to detail and perseverance in order to investigate full RFQ, part, specification and internal requirements and the appropriate source(s)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce CRM and Syteline ERP preferred
  • Proficient in the use of CAD systems or viewers such as SolidWorks, CATIA and NX to interrogate CAD models and associated annotations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills to build positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or + 7 years experience working in quoting / estimating in aerospace industry
  • 5+ years of experience working in or with manufacturing teams
  • Experience working in ERP systems (Proshop is a plus)
  • Experience working in a corporate environment supporting multiple locations, Shared service experience is a plus
  • Self-starter able to work with little supervision.
