Full Job Description
Under limited guidance, work at the business unit level developing the end-to-end solution architecture for significant initiatives in partnership with key business and IT stakeholders.

Essential Functions

This role will help build and scale a comprehensive suite of cloud-based Retail Solutions that power everything from shipping and packing to advanced parcel management services. Additionally, this role will define the architectural strategy for modern, cloud-native deployments and spearhead the integration of AI-enabled development tools across teams to accelerate delivery cycles, drive developer velocity, and ensure robust system resilience.

1. Supports the design, build, and deployment of highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native applications.

2. Leverages current-state architecture and identifies strategic options for future-state architecture.

3. Develops migration plans and facilitates the transition from legacy systems to future-state platforms by providing technical leadership across multiple domains.

4. Designs modern RESTful APIs and microservices to meet evolving business requirements.

5. Supports automated software builds and releases using modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

6. Collaborates in Agile ceremonies and follows modern SDLC processes to deliver value incrementally.

7. Guides and mentors junior developers to foster professional growth and technical excellence.

8. Proactively troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves complex software defects and production incidents to ensure maximum system reliability.

9. Actively participate in peer code reviews, applying and sharing constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and architectural standards.

10. Works closely with business and IT stakeholders to design solutions that successfully balance priorities and technical constraints.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Hands-on experience developing enterprise software using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular, with a solid grasp of 12-factor cloud-native architecture.

2. Strong understanding of RESTful API design, microservices, and server-side development.

3. Proven ability to manage and deliver complex technical tasks efficiently within an Agile framework.

4. Excellent analytical, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills to work effectively and lead within a team environment.

5. Architect-level cloud experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is required.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information Systems, business and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement. General knowledge of hardware, software, and network, Human relations, and Communication.

Domicile Information

The preferred location for this hybrid position is Plano, TX. However, we will consider candidates based elsewhere within the United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories). Candidates residing within 50 miles of a FedEx campus will be required to work on-site at a FedEx location several times per week.
