Responsibilities

Location:

Houston, TX (HO) - Engineering - E&C Houston

The Solution Development Manager - Lurgi Technologies is responsible to understand the needs of customers and with the resources of E&C, develop the most competitive, comprehensive and optimized gas solution using the Lurgi portfolio (SMR, ATR, POX, etc...). Once solution selection is completed, the Solution Development Manager will continue to support and possibly lead the proposal preparation effort providing the technical deliverables (technical specification, scope of work definition, etc) as part of project development

  • Meet or exceed the company’s safety standards, and comply with E&C Global and Local engineering standards

  • Be the regional focal point for Air Liquide Over-The-Fence (Large Industries) project developments for Lurgi technologies

  • Support the E&C Third Party Sales team and the Air Liquide businesses (Large Industries, etc...) in technical exchanges with the customers (presentation, conferences participation, etc...)

  • Manage the development of the solution – as necessary, initiate site visits, stakeholder brainstorming and scenario development meetings, etc.

  • With the different teams, lead the Solution Development effort by developing key technical deliverables (solution tables, scope of work definition, technical specifications, ...) and associated estimations to compare different options and select the best optimized solution for the customer (jointly with all stakeholders)

  • Work with the Product Line(s),  Technical and Proposal team to develop / finalize the design basis and the technical proposal, including technical specification and associated deliverables

  • Drive the Basis of Design with the Client, define optimized process integration with different blocks

  • Work with Air Liquide’s Intellectual Property team to ensure the freedom to propose the technical solution

  • Support all necessary review meetings & associated documentation (A meeting, B meeting, Risk Boards, ERC, etc.)

  • Participate in estimate reviews, including benchmarking activities undertaken to ensure commercial competitiveness

  • Being responsible for the competitiveness of the solution

  • Ensure that the customer’s input is reflected in the proposed solution

  • Interact with key suppliers and Procurement, as necessary, to develop project scope and price information for the proposed technical solution

  • Participate and/or Lead technical clarifications meetings/ follow-up meetings with the customer

  • Proactively seek market information and participate to win/loss data analysis to ensure continuous improvement

  • Participate when needed in contract negotiations with customers

  • Evaluate with the Solution Development Director, the Product Line and the E&C Americas VP Technology the level of FOIK (First of Its Kind) of each solution and participate in the preparation of the FOIK note if needed

  • Manage one direct report (if applicable)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent in Engineering field

  • Experience in the process design (HyCO plants or similar) 

  • General knowledge of project development and execution 

  • General knowledge of industrial gas plants and market

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and coordination skills 

  • Ability to interact effectively with other entities / disciplines / departments 

  • Ability to travel both domestic & international for internal/ external meetings (10% time maximum)

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferably experience with Aspen Plus simulation software

  • Strong organizational and people management skills 

  • Ability to interact effectively with customers

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Notions of German or French language is an asset

  • Ability to work with multicultural teams
