About the job

We are looking for a Solution Consultant to be the bridge between technology and business strategy at SOVRA, playing a pivotal role in pre-sales and client engagement across the Canadian and US markets.

This role will identify client needs, design tailored solutions, and demonstrate the value of our offerings, collaborating closely with sales, product, and technical teams to translate business objectives into effective technology solutions and to become a trusted advisor to our clients. The focus is on our Merx, Bidnet, and Edilex offerings, covering intake, solicitation, and contract.

This role sits at the center of one of SOVRA's company objectives for the year ahead: driving predictable revenue growth across our product portfolio. The successful candidate will help us reach that goal by bringing genuine public sector procurement expertise into every client conversation, while ensuring that all interactions maintain the trust, credibility, and expertise expected by public sector audiences.

What You'll Do

Pre-Sales Partnership

  • You collaborate with Account Executives on qualified opportunities to uncover each agency's business objectives, pain points, and project requirements, so every demo is built on what actually matters to the buyer.
  • You help create winning sales strategies and presentations, meeting regularly with the sales team to develop pipeline, work specific opportunities, and close business.

Demonstrations and Functional Expertise
  • You present the value of SOVRA solutions through prescriptive, collaborative demonstrations - typically two to four per week where your procurement expertise mixed with discovery details combine to show the value.
  • You act as the functional and industry expert for sales directors and account executives, demonstrating a real understanding of client business processes in every interaction.

Proposals and RFx Support
  • You build high-quality functional responses to RFPs and support functional and technical activities throughout the sales cycle, reviewing and writing proposal content as your role grows.

Product Feedback
  • You work with Product Management and R&D to channel prospect and customer feedback into ongoing product improvements, so the platform keeps pace with what Canadian and US agencies needs.

What you'll bring?

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Canadian public sector procurement, ideally on the buyer side with an agency, city, province, or crown corporation, in a procurement or contract management role
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian procurement processes, including solicitation requirements, posting obligations, and thresholds
  • Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written, and comfortable presenting in both languages
  • Knowledge or experience with SaaS and cloud-based applications, and the ability to articulate their value
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present to and engage client audiences
  • Demonstrated problem analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan for the short and long term
  • Ability to travel occasionally travel across North America
  • Required: Knowledge or experience in Canada Public Sector Procurement.
  • Required: Bilingual in French and English.

What would make you stand out :
  • You are physically located in Ontario or Quebec.
  • You have been a past or current user of Merx or other procurement solutions.
  • You have prior experience in pre-sales, product demonstrations, training, or other customer-facing roles.

What Success Looks Like:
  • 3 months: you know our solutions and how we demo them, and you are carrying your first demonstrations with a share of the incoming schedule.
  • 6 months: you handle a full demo load with confidence; your role has grown into reviewing and supporting the proposal creation process and finding new ways to support the sales team.
  • 12 months: your demonstrations are consistently excellent and prescriptive; you are the trusted Canadian procurement voice in our sales cycles, and your field feedback is shaping product decisions.
