Job Description

As the Solar Asset Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the commercial and operational performance of an operating C&I solar portfolio in 12 states. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a third-party asset management firm and O&M partners on behalf of the internal asset management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all technical, commercial, financial and operational aspects to ensure high availability at the solar facilities.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of the project information that is available on 3rd party data platforms, and continually seek ways to improve the process in order to prioritize corrective actions by the O&M providers.
  • Manage day-to-day stakeholder relationship management with third party asset managers, O&M providers and other entities
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve financial/operational performance of assets
  • P&L and technical coordination responsibility for operating solar
  • Ensure strict compliance with all project-governing documents including Power Purchase Agreements, Hedge Agreements, O&M Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, land leases, Financing Agreements, and LLC Agreements
  • Manage and resolve contractual and commercial issues as they arise
  • Participate in preparation and review of annual budgets and continually track and explain variances to budget
  • Prepare reoccurring reports on project performance for internal and external parties and respond to inquiries
  • Technical coordination for select improvement / "remediation" projects at solar assets, including but not limited to:
    • Review of EPC bids
    • Review and participation in equipment selection
    • On-site interaction with EPC contractor, independent engineer and environmental engineering/permitting entity
    • Interaction with local site host
    • Spare parts strategy, inventory tracking
  • Collaborate with energy marketing to identify revenue increasing and risk mitigation opportunities
  • Procurement of insurance policies, managing insurance claims, project documentation, permits and licensing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or environmental sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the energy industry including equipment and operations; 2 years of experience in area of managing energy projects (especially solar pv) is preferable
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to effectively multitask
  • Knowledge of the energy and renewable energy market; ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends in the renewable energy industry.
  • Commercial mindset, strong prioritization, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite; Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of project finance and/or engineering economics; contract/warranty negotiations
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision
  • Strong learning skills with aptitude to independently research, understand, and implement knowledge in new areas
  • Experience / exposure to financial modeling
