Job Description

Software Quality Engineer
We are seeking a technically strong Software Quality Engineer to help ensure the reliability and readiness of complex software products. This role will work directly with engineering teams to evaluate new development, expand automated coverage, troubleshoot failures, and strengthen quality throughout the software delivery process.

This is a hands-on technical testing role, not a primarily manual QA position. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with software written in C and C++, has strong test automation experience, and understands how testing fits into modern build and deployment pipelines.
What You'll Do
  • Develop testing approaches for new features, product changes, and software releases.
  • Build and enhance automated test solutions that improve engineering feedback and product reliability.
  • Validate functionality across multiple software components and integrated product environments.
  • Determine appropriate testing coverage based on technical requirements, product behavior, and potential areas of risk.
  • Incorporate automated validation into continuous integration and software delivery workflows.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, system-level, and release-focused testing.
  • Investigate failed tests and unexpected product behavior to determine whether issues originate in the product, test code, environment, or build process.
  • Partner directly with software engineers to reproduce defects and assist with technical root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain dependable testing environments, data, tooling, and supporting automation.
  • Identify unstable or ineffective automated tests and improve their reliability and value.
  • Participate in engineering reviews and contribute to improvements in development, testing, and release practices.
  • Provide clear technical feedback regarding software quality, outstanding risks, and readiness for release.
Required Qualifications
  • Professional experience in software quality engineering, software testing, or test automation within a technical product environment.
  • Strong experience creating and maintaining automated software tests.
  • Working knowledge of both C and C++ and the ability to test and troubleshoot software developed with these languages.
  • Experience developing test plans and determining appropriate coverage for complex software.
  • Experience incorporating automated testing into CI/CD or automated build/release processes.
  • Ability to diagnose failed automated tests, build issues, and pipeline problems.
  • Experience testing at multiple levels, such as component, integration, system, and end-to-end.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills with the ability to work directly with software developers on technical issues.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and how quality engineering supports development through production release.
Salary Range: $120,000-$135,000 annually
