Job Summary

Werfen is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Software Product Owner to help turn bold ideas into high-impact digital solutions within our Autoimmunity business line. In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, translating user needs and organizational goals into clear, actionable requirements that power efficient, high-quality software delivery.

As the owner of the product backlog, you'll play a critical role in shaping priorities, reducing ambiguity, and ensuring teams stay focused on delivering the most valuable outcomes. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, QA, product managers, and key stakeholders to keep work aligned, well-defined, and moving forward with clarity and purpose.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities
  • Execute and communicate product vision and roadmap aligned with business objectives
  • Own and maintain a prioritized, value-driven product backlog
  • Work closely with product managers and business teams to create and maintain the product backlog according to business value or ROI
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to collect needs and feedback and translate them into clear, actionable requirements
  • Write requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that are testable and unambiguous
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support sprint planning and execution
  • Provide ongoing clarification to development teams during implementation
  • Track progress, ensure alignment with sprint goals, and communicate updates
  • Identify, escalate, and help mitigate risks, blockers, and scope changes
  • Support feature validation, release readiness, and continuous improvement through feedback analysis

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related STEM discipline.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Software Product Owner or in a similar product management-focused role
  • Understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, etc.) and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Skills & Capabilities:
  • Ability to identify and understand the wider implications of features to the overall product
  • Ability to write clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Jama or similar tools
  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders
  • Experience in biotech or medical device software and familiarity with regulatory standards in the medical device industry is preferred

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $110k to $140k. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs.

This role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave. Our sales roles are eligible for participation in a commission plan and our management, and select professional roles, are eligible for a performance-based bonus.

Travel requirements:
Less than 15% of the time
