Position Title: Software Manager - Ground Combat Weapon Systems

Position Summary
Software Manager shall be responsible for the management and execution of Software development activities within Hanwha Defense USA (HDUSA) Software Engineering team. The Software Manager will lead a team of Software Developers, to perform Software Development tasks and achieve technical outcomes in support of HDUSA within an integrated team. Primary duties will include the development and modification of software to support the transition of technology in support of the US Army's Mobile Tactical Cannon Program. The role includes managing software requirements, leading design and integration activities, supporting digital engineering efforts, and ensuring coordinated execution across embedded software, sensors, ballistics, targeting, and system-of-systems interfaces. Experience with U.S. ground combat vehicle systems or aerospace software is required, and prior work on U.S. artillery systems is strongly desired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Co-chair subcontractor Milestone Reviews, review and approve Software CDRL submissions.
- Chair and organize Software Interface Control Working Groups with both HDUSA subcontractors and the customer to ensure successful integration of Software systems
- Support the HDUSA System Safety team by leading HDUSA's implementation of Software Safety.
- Supporting the integration of Software (including firmware) from HDUSA and external suppliers into HDUSA's System Integration Laboratory (SIL).
- Implement systems-security engineering, in conjunction with HDUSA's platform cyber security team.
- Lead the development, analysis, and management of software level and system level fire control requirements, interfaces, and specifications.
- Lead the preparation and review engineering artifacts, technical documentation, design review materials, and program deliverables.
- Lead the verification and validation planning, including ballistic solution verification, timing analysis, targeting accuracy assessments, and software integration test events.
- Lead and participate in technical interchange meetings with government customers, subcontractors, and industry partners.
- Identify technical risks associated with HDUSA software development and integration, and support mitigation planning.
- Travel to customer sites, partner facilities, test ranges, and integration events as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Direct professional experience developing or delivering ground vehicle or aerospace software solutions.
- Extensive experience on taking ownership of the whole Software cycle: writing Software requirements, code, CSCI/Unit tests and supporting SW/System integration.
- Experience developing environments incorporating Tools such as Python, RHEL (and open equivalents such as Rocky Linux), KVM and VMWare.
- Desirable experience in developing Software using GitLab.
- Desirable experience in developing Software running on both Windows and Linux.
- Desirable experience in developing Software running in a System with strong Security, Safety, and Human Factors Engineering requirements.
- Desirable experience in IP Networking/VLANs.
- Desirable experience with systems like AFATDS.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, technical standards, and software development regulations.
- Proficiency in embedded software development environments, real-time operating systems, and common development toolchains.
- Experience leading teams in the deployment of digital engineering or MBSE tools and workflows.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex software and system behaviors in clear technical terms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.
Successful experience delivering software solutions within the ground combat vehicle or aerospace domains. - Proven ability to lead the development and mature software engineering tools and processes in a growing and challenging environment.
- Experience with ground combat vehicle mission systems, vetronics, or integrated weapon subsystems.
- Background in digital thread/digital twin environments or model-based software development.
- Experience supporting major defense acquisition programs or largescale software integrations.
