Responsibilities

The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDISis responsible foradvancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAAs Space Weather Next (SWX) programmaintainsand extends space weather observations from various vantage points, selected to most efficientlyprovide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.

The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS)is responsible forcomprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation ofobservingassets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.

The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a fullmission satellitecommand and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.

Overview:

Peraton is seeking aSoftwareIntegration & TestEngineerto supportSoftwareIntegration Test and Check Out (ITCO)activities across a new satellite ground system development program supporting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This position will support allSoftware Engineeringactivities throughout the full system lifecyclefrom architecture and design through integration, assessment, authorization, and operational deployment.

The selected candidate willbe responsible forsupporting the programsITCOfunction. This role requires close collaboration with other program functional elements including Systems Engineering,Cyber, Networks, Infrastructure, Architecture, Operations,Qualityand program leadership.

  • Perform system levelsoftwareintegration and test(I&T) activities for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications ensuring system compatibilityto meet program technical,scheduleand costobjectives. This includes the test and integration of COTS-based systems and custom software, from the system design phase through development, documentation, installation, and commissioning of the completed system
  • Generatetestplans andproceduresfor theverification andvalidation(V&V)of softwarecomponents toensure requirementstraceability and test casestoallowrequirement V&V
  • Support test readiness reviews, formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports
  • Organize, execute, and report onsoftwaretesting
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation,testingand efficient use of resources
  • Utilize RedHat Enterprise Linux to resolve configuration issues and integrate Red Hat Linux systems with other existing environments
  • Create andmodifybash scripts
  • Write and edit scripts in Python, Perl,Powershell, Java,C,etc.
  • Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment
  • Support development and maintenance of automated testing

Target Salary Range$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individuals experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
