Job Summary:The Software Integration and Test Engineer is responsible for integrating, testing, and verifying real-time embedded software systems for advanced platforms. This role performs software and hardware integration activities, develops and executes automated and manual verification testing, troubleshoots complex software issues, and supports cybersecurity, networking, and system validation efforts. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure software solutions meet technical, system, performance, quality, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and execute software integration and verification testing activities for real-time embedded software systems.
- Integrate hardware modules and software components into combat vehicle system environments.
- Perform software integration and testing on Linux/Unix-based operating systems.
- Develop, debug, and execute automated and manual requirements-based software verification tests.
- Build and maintain software and hardware integration test environments and testbeds.
- Perform scripting, networking, cybersecurity hardening, and vulnerability scan activities.
- Troubleshoot software, hardware, and communication-related issues while providing effective solutions.
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, integration, testing, and verification.
- Develop, maintain, upgrade, and port embedded product software and support software systems.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Systems Engineering teams to support integrated solutions.
- Ensure technical approaches align with established engineering principles, processes, and industry practices.
- Verify that software products meet customer requirements, system performance objectives, and quality standards.
- Mentor less experienced software test engineers by providing guidance on testing methodologies, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques.
- Utilize configuration management and issue tracking tools to support software development activities.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in software integration and test.
- Experience developing, analyzing, and/or reviewing requirements for safety-critical real-time embedded software.
- Experience integrating software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience with computer networks, including switches, VLANs, and communication protocols.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting communication protocol software, including CAN, Serial, and Ethernet.
- Experience with software verification testing methodologies.
- Strong programming skills in C++, Python, and BASH.
- Experience using version control and issue tracking tools.
- Experience with Git and Jira/GitLab configuration management tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience developing tests using NI Software tools such as TestStand, VeriStand, or LabVIEW.
- Experience with architectural-level software design using MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, or similar model-based engineering tools.
- Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capabilities.
- Experience with traceability across software requirements, design, and verification artifacts.
- Familiarity with military and commercial design standards.
- Familiarity with UML modeling tools.
- Familiarity with DOORS requirements management tool.
- Familiarity with CMMI for development processes.
- Familiarity with Qt Framework for front-end GUI development.
- Knowledge of Ethernet-based protocols including SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools such as Nessus and Coverity.
- Experience with system hardening and applying STIG security guidelines.
- Experience configuring and using virtual machines.
