Tempus Technologies is seeking a highly collaborative and technically skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead our Test Automation and Quality Engineering efforts. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, focusing on building scalable automation frameworks, advancing AI-driven testing practices, and fostering a high-performing engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
020 Lead, mentor, and develop a team of automation engineers through regular one-on-one meetings
020 Drive employee growth through coaching, feedback, and performance management processes
020 Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-accountability team culture
020 Manage hiring, performance reviews, and employee lifecycle decisions
020 Ensure team availability, engagement, and strong communication practices
Delivery & Execution
020 Own and manage the test automation product backlog, ensuring alignment with business priorities
020 Facilitate bi-weekly planning sessions for automation initiatives
020 Oversee and support execution of UI, API, and performance testing efforts
020 Maintain accountability for timely and high-quality delivery of automation solutions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
020 Partner closely with development, product, and business teams to:
020 020 Address failures identified through automated testing
020 020 Prioritize automation initiatives
020 020 Expand automation adoption across development teams
020 Participate in town halls, RCA sessions, and product meetings
020 Act as a key advocate for quality engineering practices across the organization
Technical Leadership
020 Provide hands-on support with UI and API automation development when needed
020 Own and evolve the automation framework and technology stack
020 Promote best practices in test design, observability, and monitoring
020 Drive integration of AI (Generative AI, Prompt Engineering, Agentic AI) into testing and automation workflows
020 Champion continuous improvement in CI/CD pipelines and quality processes
Qualifications:
Technical Skills
020 Strong experience in software development
020 Hands-on experience with UI test automation tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress)
020 Experience with API testing tools such as Postman
020 Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
020 Experience with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter
020 Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
020 Solid understanding of software testing concepts (Black Box, White Box)
020 Experience working with REST APIs
020 Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
020 Experience with containerization technologies
020 Passion for automation, monitoring, and observability

This position may be eligible for remote work in select geographic locations, subject to approval by PNC. If approved, work must be conducted from a quiet, secure, and confidential home-based workspace. Occasional in-office participation may be required based on business needs.

Job Description- Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
