Summary

As the Wealth Planning Software Engineering Lead, you will provide hands-on technical leadership for the applications, workflows, integrations, and platforms supporting the firm's Wealth Planning organization. Working with Wealth Planning leaders, business analysts, quality assurance, Architecture, and other technology teams, you will translate the Wealth Planning roadmap into scalable, maintainable technology solutions.

The Wealth Planning roadmap spans Bessemer Giving Fund modernization, Trust onboarding, Client Tax automation, specialty asset workflows, Insurance and Real Estate technology, integrated data and reporting, and AI-enabled capabilities. This role will help establish consistent architecture and engineering practices across these initiatives, effectively incorporate GenAI into solution design and delivery, and advance the roadmap goals to scale, standardize, automate, integrate, and strengthen controls.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering and architecture skills with the ability to mentor developers, solve complex technical problems, and work effectively with business and technology stakeholders.

Software Engineering Leadership

• Serve as the senior technical lead for Wealth Planning applications and technology initiatives.
• Lead solution architecture, application design, integration design, and technical implementation.
• Ensure solution designs adhere to the firm's enterprise reference architecture, approved technology standards, integration patterns, security controls, and platform guardrails.
• Remain hands-on through design reviews, code reviews, prototyping, troubleshooting, and complex development work.
• Establish and promote consistent software engineering standards, reusable patterns, and development practices.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, testable, and supportable, while identifying and addressing technical debt and application lifecycle risks.

Roadmap Execution & Modernization

• Partner with Wealth Planning business leaders and subject-matter experts, along with enterprise teams including Client Advisory, Trading, Architecture, Data & Reporting, Document Management, Information Security, Legal & Compliance, and owners of shared enterprise platforms to deliver integrated solutions across the Wealth Planning roadmap
• Lead modernization of legacy applications and workflows toward scalable, reusable architectures while maintaining business continuity and appropriate controls.
• Assess Wealth Planning solutions for appropriate platform integration, both within WP and with shared platforms for onboarding, portfolio management and trading. Define and drive the resulting integration approach and roadmap
• Define clear separation of responsibilities across user interfaces, workflow/orchestration, APIs, integrations, and data services.
• Identify opportunities to reuse common services, integrations, workflows, and application components across Wealth Planning disciplines.

Integration, Data & Automation

• Partner with Architecture and Data teams to improve application access to trusted enterprise data and enable consistent reporting and insights.
• Ensure integrations include appropriate security, monitoring, error handling, auditability, and operational controls.
• Ensure GenAI is actively considered and utilized effectively across Wealth Planning solutions, where appropriate, alongside workflow automation, APIs, and data services to reduce manual effort, improve advisor productivity, and enhance solution capabilities.
• Ensure all GenAI and AI-enabled capabilities adhere to enterprise-approved governance, security, privacy, data-handling, Legal/Compliance, and model-risk guardrails, with appropriate traceability, exception handling, and human oversight.

Engineering Excellence & Delivery

• Lead technical delivery from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Promote automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, security scanning, logging, monitoring, and production-readiness practices.
• Work closely with business analysts and QA to identify technical risks, edge cases, and integration scenarios early in the development lifecycle.
• Lead resolution of complex production issues spanning applications, workflows, APIs, databases, and integrations.
• Balance new development with upgrades, production support, application maintenance, and technical debt reduction.

Developer Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership and mentoring to software engineers.
• Lead design discussions and code reviews and help developers strengthen software design, debugging, integration, and architectural skills.
• Improve technical documentation and knowledge sharing to reduce dependency on individual subject-matter experts.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions and clearly communicate architecture decisions, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in technical evaluations of third-party platforms and services.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including demonstrated experience as a senior engineer, technical lead, or similar role.
• Strong software design and enterprise application architecture skills, with experience leading complex initiatives from design through production support.
• Experience with modern web application development, including frameworks such as React.
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs and enterprise systems.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience.
• Experience with workflow or business-process automation technologies.
• Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality and security scanning, and modern deployment practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to review technical designs and code and provide meaningful engineering guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities within a broader delivery roadmap.

Preferred

• Experience in financial services, wealth management, trust, tax, fiduciary, or professional-services environments.
• Experience evaluating and integrating third-party platforms.

The base salary range for this position is $200,000-$230,000. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skills, experience, and qualification for the role. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.In addition, this position may be eligible for a discretionary incentive based on individual and company performance.
