Job Description
This is a hybrid role; only local candidates will be considered.

The Software Developer will support the Texas Department of Agriculture. This role performs advanced computer programming work, developing software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, and analyzing systems flow, data usage, and work processes. The developer writes, tests, debugs, and documents complex client/server and web-based applications using C# (.NET), Blazor, and SQL. This position also provides ongoing support for Texas Department of Agriculture applications through problem diagnosis and resolution, ensuring software remains current and functional. The role requires close coordination with systems analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to validate requirements and deliver solutions that meet technical and functional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, and analyzing systems flow, data usage, and work processes.
  • Investigate problem areas and prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Write, test, debug, and document complex programs, including client/server and web-based applications using C# (.NET), Blazor, and/or SQL.
  • Design, develop, and implement specialized programs or routines to create, supplement, and enhance front-end and back-end web-based applications using HTML5, CSS, C# .NET Blazor, SQL, Stored Procedures, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • Coordinate with systems analysts, architects, and various business areas to gather and validate requirements and understand technical issues and limitations.
  • Provide support of Texas Department of Agriculture applications software through diagnosis of problems and implementation of changes to resolve issues and maintain software at the most current level.
  • Apply extensive experience in mobile application development using Visual Studio, .NET Core 9.0, and DevExpress tools, including implementation of secure and seamless payment acceptance functionality within mobile apps.
  • Perform research and analysis to support specialized programs or routines that supplement and enhance front-end and back-end web-based applications.
  • Recommend improvements to processes for application development projects, as needed.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - candidates must meet all minimum qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in development of web-based software applications.
  • 4 years of experience in root cause analysis and resolution.
  • 4 years of experience in programming in various coding languages including but not limited to .Net, HTML, HTML5, ASP, Java, JSP, .NET/C#, front-end and back-end user interface methodologies and technologies, SQL, and stored procedures.
  • 4 years of experience and proficiency in web programming using .NET/C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Stored Procedures, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • 3 years of experience with Agile SDLC methodology.
  • 3 years of experience working on a team performing a variety of SDLC related tasks.
  • 3 years of experience in intra-team collaboration for requirements gathering and software development, modifications, and maintenance.
  • 3 years of experience in presenting in-person software application change demonstrations for the purposes of seeking customer approval of proposed design.
  • 2 years of experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.
  • 1 year of experience programming in C# .Net Blazor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience porting existing codebase from Java or Windows Forms to C# .NET Blazor.
  • 2 years of experience and knowledge of responsive web design practices and implementation.
  • 2 years of experience and knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and implementation.
  • 1 year of previous experience working with Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) systems.

Additional Requirements

  • Local candidates only; must currently live within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location.

Work Location and Schedule

Location: 1700 North Congress Avenue, 11th Floor, Austin, TX 78701

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.

Work Arrangement: On Site
