Full Job Description
Meta is seeking an experienced Software Engineer, Technical Leadership to lead the technical strategy for production systems that model, optimize, and automate Meta's infrastructure supply chain and capacity planning. Meta's infrastructure supply chain is one of the most complex planning and fulfillment systems in the world, spanning demand, supply, inventory, manufacturing constraints, logistics, data center capacity, hardware availability, regionalization, cost, and risk. This role will help build the next generation of decision systems for infrastructure supply chain and capacity fulfillment. The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering and systems design experience with strong operations research, optimization, and supply-chain modeling expertise. They will translate mathematical models and decision frameworks into reliable, explainable, production-grade platforms that help Meta deliver the right capacity, in the right place, at the right time, while improving predictability and minimizing waste. This is a senior individual contributor role with broad cross-functional scope. The person in this role will set multi-year technical direction, partner deeply with Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, Product, Finance, Supply Chain, Infrastructure, and Operations teams, and influence executive-level decisions in a high-scale, ambiguous, and business-critical problem space.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the multi-year technical strategy for supply-chain optimization, capacity planning, and fulfillment decision systems across Meta infrastructure.;.
• Architect production platforms that connect demand, supply, inventory, manufacturing capacity, logistics, regionalization, cost, and risk into reliable planning and execution workflows.;.
• Translate operations research models, optimization algorithms, simulations, and planning heuristics into scalable, maintainable, explainable, and auditable software systems.;.
• Lead the design and evolution of solver-backed and simulation-backed systems for problems such as inventory placement, supply allocation, capacity fulfillment, manufacturing feasibility, network design, logistics optimization, and scenario planning.;.
• Partner with Data Science, Data Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Product, and Infrastructure Engineering teams to create trusted sources of truth, improve forecast-vs-actual accuracy, and make planning assumptions measurable.;.
• Identify high-leverage opportunities to reduce stranded capacity, improve on-time delivery, accelerate fulfillment, reduce manual planning cycles, and improve confidence in executive and operational decisions.;.
• Establish engineering patterns, model governance, validation approaches, and operational standards for decision systems used in high-stakes planning workflows.;.
• Drive alignment across multiple teams and organizations, including resolving technical tradeoffs where systems, data, business process, and operational reality intersect.;.
• Mentor and raise the technical bar for senior engineers working on optimization, planning, data quality, workflow automation, and infrastructure decision systems.;.
• Communicate complex technical and business tradeoffs clearly to senior engineering leaders, cross-functional partners, and executive stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience setting technical direction for large-scale software systems across multiple teams or organizations
• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production software systems in complex, ambiguous, cross-functional domains
• Experience with operations research, mathematical optimization, simulation, forecasting, or decision-support systems
• Experience applying optimization or modeling techniques to supply-chain, logistics, capacity planning, inventory, manufacturing, fulfillment, sourcing, infrastructure planning, or related operational domains
• Experience translating models or analytical approaches into production-grade systems with monitoring, validation, explainability, and operational ownership
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as Data Science, Data Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, or Infrastructure
• Experience influencing senior technical and business stakeholders through written strategy, architecture reviews, and executive-level communication
• Programming experience in one or more general-purpose languages such as C++, Java, Python, Hack, Go, Rust, or similar
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience operating at staff, principal, distinguished, or equivalent senior technical leadership level
• Experience with solver technologies or modeling frameworks such as Gurobi, OR-Tools, Xpress, CPLEX, Pyomo, custom solvers, discrete-event simulation, or similar systems
• Experience with methods such as mixed-integer programming, linear programming, constraint programming, network flow, facility location, bin packing, stochastic optimization, scheduling, allocation, or reinforcement learning for planning
• Experience building systems for infrastructure capacity planning, cloud capacity, hardware supply chain, GPU/accelerator planning, data center planning, logistics, inventory optimization, or manufacturing capacity planning
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop planning tools, what-if/scenario planning systems, or decision-support products used by business and operations teams
• Experience improving data quality, source-of-truth architecture, model validation, or forecast-vs-actual measurement in fragmented enterprise systems
• Experience leading zero-to-one technical efforts in domains with incomplete data, overloaded terminology, and multiple partial sources of truth
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Supply Chain, or a related technical field
