Within the Charlie Portfolio of Space Security, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. This exciting position will fill a critical need in the new and emerging area of protecting space assets. As part of an Agile team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks in various areas across the mission and collaborate with the development teams, contractors, customers, and subject matter experts.
As a key member of the software development team, you will be part of the entire engineering life-cycle, and apply your Software Engineering background to develop web applications in an open architecture infrastructure. The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.
Basic Qualifications- Experienced in software development using programming and scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment, including tools such as Jira and Confluence
- US citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance
- Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a SCI clearance.
- Generally has 8+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline
- In this position you will Serve as a software developer on an Agile team developing web applications in an open architecture infrastructure to serve an emerging area of protecting USG space assets
- Ability to Leverage industry standard open-source software solutions such as GitLab, Kubernetes, and Docker
- Abiltiy to Maintain Kubernetes clusters, create and automate deployment of containers using Helm, and support agile development teams by developing and maintaining tools, pipelines, scripts, and environments
- Ability to Participate in daily scrums, software sprint/release planning, demos, and retrospectives
- Ability to Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive adoption of best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, performance profiling
Desired Skills- Experience in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
- Experience with frameworks such as .NET Core, Angular, etc.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD - Deployment pipelines, automated build, and/or configuration tools
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL & Redis)
- Strong knowledge of modern technology frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevOps, and data architecture.
- Experienced with Horizon software
- Previous Flight Software or Simulation Software Experience
- Experience with modern engineering practices such as Cross-Functional Agile teams and Capability-based planning
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering or other engineering disciplines or equivalent experience, with 8 or more years of professional experience
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00
The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
