Lockheed Martin, a leader in advancing secure communications and cutting-edge defense technology, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects that protect and serve our nation's defense.
This role blends technical expertise in software integration with technical program management responsibilities, ensuring timely delivery, risk mitigation, and alignment with customer and subcontractor expectations in a classified environment.
• Framework On boarding & Integration - Own end to end onboarding of new software products onto the Framework, enforcing security, performance, and compliance standards.
• Installation & Configuration - Lead installation, configuration, and upgrade of Framework components; author and maintain repeatable, version controlled installation guides.
• Documentation & Knowledge Transfer - Produce and sustain integration guides, test plans, deployment procedures, and risk mitigation documents; conduct briefings for stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Linux & IaC Operations - Expertly use Linux CLI, Bash/Python scripting, and system admin skills; provision, monitor, and optimize environments with Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes (Docker excluded).
• Technical Issue Resolution - Diagnose, log, and drive resolution of defects; collaborate with subcontractors and internal teams to troubleshoot integration or installation problems.
• Configuration Management & CRB Oversight - Design, develop, and maintain tooling for configuration management; act as primary liaison to the Change Request Board, ensuring approved changes are implemented, tracked, and auditable.
• Mentorship & Leadership - Provide technical guidance and coaching to Level 3 engineers and junior staff; lead technical reviews and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Metrics & Reporting - Define, collect, and present defect, installation, and performance metrics to senior leadership and program management.
Basic Qualifications
• Systems/Software Engineering & Integration: Experience in systems/software engineering, software installation, and integration in an Agile environment.
• SDLC: Strong understanding of Full lifecycle experience (design, development, testing, deployment) with Agile methodologies.
• Clearance Requirement: US Citizenship Requried. Active DOD Secret clearance need to start
Desired skills
• API & Automated Testing: Proven ability to develop and run API tests and automated integration tests.
• Linux Proficiency: Strong command line, shell scripting (Bash/Python), and system administration capabilities.
• Cybersecurity & DevSecOps: Knowledge of security methodologies, secure coding, and DevSecOps pipeline integration.
• Container Orchestration: Hands on experience with Kubernetes (Docker excluded).
• Cloud & Web Integration: Understanding of cloud based platforms and web application integration patterns.
• IaC Experience: Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or comparable Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Project Management Tools: Experience with Jira and GitLab for issue tracking, sprint planning, and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Defect & Metrics Management: Experience logging, tracking, and presenting defect and installation metrics.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $113,900 - $200,905. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $131,000 - $227,125. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
