ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED
We are seeking a high-performing Spring Boot & Data Modernization Engineer to join a collaborative, mission-driven team responsible for processing terabytes of operational enterprise data each week. In this role, you will enhance and scale a core Spring Boot application backed by MariaDB while driving its evolution toward modern containerization and Kubernetes orchestration. You will work across the full engineering spectrum-optimizing high-throughput database queries, designing RESTful APIs, refining Angular front-end interfaces, and automating CI/CD pipelines via GitLab. You will also have direct opportunities to shape architectural decisions, participate in DevSecOps practices, and cross-train across application, database, and deployment environments to build highly resilient systems.
The annual base salary range for this role is $144,000-$238,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills
Spring Boot & Scalable Java Engineering: Demonstrated experience developing, debugging, and maintaining enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot or modern framework equivalents.
Large-Scale Enterprise Data Processing: Proven ability to build, optimize, and maintain software that efficiently ingests, processes, and manages terabytes of operational data.
Relational Database & Query Optimization: Strong hands-on experience working with relational database engines-specifically MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or Oracle-including query tuning and data access layer optimization.
Full-Stack & RESTful Service Design: Experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure RESTful APIs and building modern front-end web interfaces using Angular or similar frameworks.
Containers & Kubernetes Environments: Practical experience working with container technologies (Docker or Podman) and deploying containerized applications into Kubernetes-managed environments.
Agile Engineering & DevSecOps Tooling: Hands-on experience utilizing GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and testing, along with Jira and Confluence for sprint planning and technical documentation.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 14+ years of professional software development experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 18+ years of hands-on technical software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired Skills
Enterprise Kubernetes Distributions: Experience deploying applications to CNCF-compliant Kubernetes platforms such as Rancher, Amazon EKS, or OpenShift.
Kubernetes Primitives & Helm: Familiarity with Kubernetes architecture components (Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, Persistent Volumes) and Helm chart management.
Microservices & Architecture Evolution: Practical background in decomposing monolithic services into microservice architectures and guiding software evolution.
Secondary DBA & Operational Support: Experience providing backup DBA operational support (routine maintenance, monitoring, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting) for MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or Oracle databases.
Automated Testing & Delivery: Hands-on experience with automated test frameworks, DevSecOps pipelines, and continuous deployment workflows.
